Head – White yarn

  • Make a magic ring (MR), 6sc into MR (6sts) – do not join to first stitch, carry on working in the round
  • Inc in each st x 6 (12sts)
  • 1sc, inc x 6 (18sts)
  • 2sc, inc x 6 (24sts)
  • 3sc, inc x 6 (30sts)
  • 4sc, inc x 6 (36sts)
  • 5sc, inc x 6 (42sts)
  • 42sc x 7 rows
  • 5sc, dec x 6 (36sts)
  • 4sc, dec x 6 (30sts)
  • 3sc, dec x 6 (24sts)
  • 2sc, dec x 6 (18sts)
  • SS, Fasten off (leaving a long piece of yarn for sewing to body) and stuff with soft toy filling

Snout – White yarn

  • Make a magic ring (MR), 6sc into MR (6sts) – do not join to first stitch, carry on working in the round
  • Inc in each st x 6 (12sts)
  • 1sc, inc x 6 (18sts)
  • 2sc, inc x 6 (24sts)
  • 24sc x 3 rows

Change to white yarn

  • Sew to the body

Arms – Make 2 in Brown yarn

  • Make a magic ring (MR), 4sc into MR (6sts) – do not join to first stitch, carry on working in the round
  • Inc in each st x 4 (8sts)
  • 1sc, inc x 4 (12sts)
  • 12sc x 2 rows
  • 1sc, dec x 4 (8sts)
  • 1sc in each st (8sts)

Change colour to white yarn

  • 8sc x 5 rows
  • SS, Fasten off (leaving a long piece of yarn for sewing to the body)
  • Sew to the body

Pepper the Puppy Tail – Brown yarn

  • Make a magic ring (MR), 4sc into MR (6sts) – do not join to first stitch, carry on working in the round
  • 6sc x 5 rows

Change colour to white yarn

  • 6sc x 5 rows
  • SS, Fasten off (leaving a long piece of yarn for sewing to the body)
  • Sew to the body

Sew eyes and nose on to face.

Attach keyring to top of head.

Crochet Poppy Brooch Pattern – Free Links. A friend suggested I make a crochet poppy, never one to not accept a challenge, so I did!

Create this great little project to celebrate Remembrance Day on November 11th.

I had a look for different patterns to use, there’s loads out there!

For your Crochet Poppy Brooch Pattern you will need:

4mm crochet hook

DK yarn –

Darning needle to sew in the loose ends

Brooch clasp

These are a couple of free patterns I found but I prefer the more natural looking flowers, so I used the pattern for the poppy from the headband.  Link below:

I switched the yellow yarn for black (no yellow yarn in my bag of tricks!).

Process

Create your brooch from the poppy pattern link above.

Tidy brooch up by sewing in the loose ends and attach the brooch clasp to the back of the crocheted poppy.

It crocheted up quite quickly and I loved the leaf design.  The pattern was quite easy to follow too.

These could be turned into brooches, button holes, handbag and hair accessories or added to blankets, scarves, cushions …. endless ideas!

Next time I might try adding a black button or bead in the middle.

Process
