Baby’s First Christmas Personalised Mirrored Acrylic Ornaments

Love love love these! They’ll look gorgeous on the Christmas tree this year.

I made these with 8cm Mirrored Acrylic discs from Woodform Crafts https://www.woodformcrafts.co.uk/product/10-x-silver-mirror-acrylic-8cm-hanging-circle-wc1061/https://www.woodformcrafts.co.uk/product/10-x-silver-mirror-acrylic-8cm-hanging-circle-wc1061/

The permanent vinyl I used was Teckwrap permanent vinyl in glossy white https://www.amazon.co.uk/TECKWRAP-Permanent-Adhesive-Vinyl-Glossy/dp/B07KYQTBKP. For the pink and blue I used sheets out of this pack https://www.amazon.co.uk/First-Adhesive-Pack-Gloss-12-Colours-52-Transfer/dp/B07WGVPC1L

I designed my own SVG and cut it out on the cricut maker.

I’ve added cord or ribbon in corresponding colours. All the ribbon and cord was from Hobbycraft.

Cord – https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/white-ribbon-knot-cord-2mm-x-10m/568020-1016

Organza ribbon – https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/white-organdie-ribbon-12mm-x-6m/569761-1017

These are for sale on my Facebook page Beejui Creations

3D Mandala Letter ‘I’ – Free SVG Link

3D Mandala Letter ‘B’ – Free SVG Link. Another great mandala project. This was a really fun project, I really enjoyed making this for my craft room.

3D Mandala Letter 'I' - Free SVG Link
3D Mandala Letter ‘I’ – Free SVG Link

To make this project you will need:

Cricut Maker

Cricut design space

3D Mandala Letter SVG (link below)

5 different colours of card

I used all 5 colours from the A4 Premium Card Pack – Turquoise Shades from hobbycraft. They have loads of lovely colours in this range.

Link to the card I used: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/turquoise-premium-card-a4-50-pack/626609-1008

(I am not affiliated with hobbycraft, I just love their stuff lol).

Foam pads

I used adhesive foam pads for this project. All layers except the very top one I have used the foam pads to give a bit of depth to the project.

(NOTE: try to hide the foam pads under each layer by cutting them to size so you can’t see them).

Link to adhesive foam pads: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/white-adhesive-foam-pads-25mm-x-12mm-x-2mm-40-pieces/606180-1000

If you want a flat look use adhesive spray in between the layers. (NOTE: Open the window and cover your workspace, this spray smells really strong and even though I had a A3 pad covering my workspace it still got everywhere lol).

The adhesive spray that I use is not showing online but I bought it from Hobbycraft and it was called ‘Permanent Adhesive Spray 200ml’

Self Adhesive Vinyl for the very top layer

I used the light blue out of this pack from Amazon : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WGVPC1L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I find that the very top layer has very small intricate cuts and the foam pads just wont work to adhere. So either cut out of card and glue the top layer on to the layer below or use self adhesive vinyl.

Blue Light Grip Cricut Mat

I used the blue light grip mat for all the layers.

Settings:

Cricut settings

I made the SVG smaller to fit the paper I had – 20cm wide x 18.5cm length.

Material setting for the self adhesive vinyl – PREMIUM VINYL

Material setting for the other layers – LIGHT CARDSTOCK – 60lb (163gsm)

NOTE: there may be better settings but these are the ones that worked for me.

Woman Sitting in a Lotus Flower Mandala – Cricut Maker

Love the colours on this one!

I purchased the SVG for this from DesignBundles.net. It was in a bundle of 10 different designs. Here is the link:

https://designbundles.net/svg-story/575512-3d-mandala-svg-bundle-papercut-svg-zentangle#gtmList=30&gtmPos=1

I always customise my projects before going ahead and making them. I like to play around with the colours and layers to see what it will look like before I commit lol. As you can see below I changed the colours for each layer in customiser to match what colour card I wanted to use. It helps to try and find a colour in design space as close as a match to the colour card stock you are using.

Once you turn each layer into the colour you want you will see that all your mats will be colour coded for easy reference when making your project.

On design space my mats loaded up like this:

Settings and Materials I used for this project:

Mat 1

Mat 2

  • Materials: 250gsm Card stock from B&M Hobby World A4 Card 20pk – Silver
  • Colour: Silver
  • Mat: Green StandardGrip
  • Cricut material setting: Heavy Card stock – 270gsm (it struggled to cut all the way through on this setting, I may try adding more pressure next time)
  • Average Cut time – less than a minute

Mat 3

Mat 4

Mat 5

NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE HEAD PART TO ALL LAYERS EXCEPT THE SILVER LAYER

I nearly lost her head and my own after realising I’d threw her head away with the scrap!

purple, blue and silver image of a woman sitting in a mandala lotus flower

Assemble

I used a glue stick to layer all the pieces together, except the top vinyl layer. NOTE: I am off to purchase a glue pen and mounting spray because those glue sticks are messy lol!

Bottom layer – Silver card stock

2nd layer – Light purple card stock

3rd layer – Dark purple card stock

4th layer – Dark blue card stock

5th layer – Light purple self adhesive vinyl

This project took me approximately a hour to create start to finish.

Have fun creating your own and try different colours. I would love to see your different designs, so please post your creations in the comments below.
